Now, teaching science through comic books (Business Capsule)
September 19th, 2009 - 6:33 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Sep 19 (IANS) Axiom Education, an education innovation company, Saturday announced the launch of interactive comic textbooks based on the curriculum set by the National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT) to spread scientific knowledge.
Called “iken books”, the textbooks have been designed with comic characters imparting education, and will be available in two volumes for students of sixth to eight standards.

Pai institute offers e-governance course
Bangalore: T.A. Pai Management Institute Saturday launched the centre for e-governance research and education here to offer e-governance programmes to meet the shortage of personnel in the e-governance space.
Said to be the first of its kind in the country, the 11-month programme is meant to develop management and leadership skills with inputs from information technology and e-governance domain.

ATMs at Indian Oil pumps
Thiruvananthapuram: The South Indian Bank (SIB) has signed an agreement with Indian Oil Corp (IOC) to set up automated teller machines (ATMs) at the latter’s filling stations across India.
Under the agreement, the bank would initially set up ATMs at 17 retail IOC outlets. It will also add 23 branches to its countrywide network, taking the total number of branches to 575 by the year-end.

Mumbai to host “Broadcast India 2009
New Delhi: Mumbai will host the 19th Broadcast India 2009 Exhibition, where over 500 companies from 31 countries will exhibit their products Oct 29-31.
The event will cover all aspects of television, film, radio, video, audio, IPTV, mobile TV, computer graphics, multimedia applications, broadband, Internet and other innovations from the infotainment industry.
