Now lower-value e-stamp papers in Delhi
February 6th, 2012 - 10:53 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Feb 6 (IANS) The Delhi government Monday gave a go-ahead to bring non-judicial stamp papers of Rs.500 denomination and below too under the ambit of e-stamp mode which will prevent all fraudulent practices in the field.
The e-stamping of non-judicial stamp papers of denominations of Rs. 501 and above was implemented from April 1, 2008, through Stock Holding Corporation of India Ltd. which has been providing this service through its offices and authorised collection centres.
“The e-stamp papers are tamper-proof and a secured electronic payment gateway to the government. With the help of them, authenticity of the certificate can easily be checked with the papers having a unique identification number,” Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said after the cabinet meeting where the decision was taken.
With bringing e-stamp papers of Rs. 500 and below under the ambit of e-stamp mode, the city government will save a huge amount on account of payment of printing, transportation and other charges.
The papers are purchased by various licensed stamp vendors on day to day basis and on the basis of limit set on the vendor’s license. The annual sale of the paper non-judicial stamp papers in Delhi is about Rs.60 crore.
