Northeast to get Rs.93 crore for airport development

Pranab Mukherjee New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS) Giving a major boost to the air transport segment for the remote northeast region, the government Monday allocated Rs.93 crore in the union budget 2011-12 to airport development in the region.”Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been provided with budgetary support of Rs.280.15 crore, out of which Rs.93.48 crore has been earmarked for development of airports in the northeastern states,” according to the union budget 2011-12.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee allocated a total of Rs.9,071.56 crore to the civil aviation sector, which includes Rs.7,371.56 crore in unplanned and Rs.1,700 crore in planned expenditure.
