North Carolina gives local businesses contracting advantage
February 18th, 2010 - 3:39 am ICT by BNO NewsRALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA (BNO NEWS) – North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue signed on Wednesday Executive Order No. 50 that will give North Carolina business a price matching opportunity when bidding on state contracts for the purchase of goods, the Governor’s Office announced.
With this order, a North Carolina-based business will be able to match the out-of-state bidder’s price in order to secure the contract. This will help local businesses to protect and grow jobs.
“At a time when North Carolina companies are looking hard for customers, this change will give them a better chance to compete for business, stay in business, and grow their business,” Gov. Perdue said.
In addition to the announcement of the executive order, Gov. Perdue also named Scott Daugherty to serve as North Carolina’s first Small Business Commissioner.
The role of Small Business Commissioner is to establish an organizational structure and collaborative partnership model that will serve the small business community with assistance, information and collaboration.
