Nokia Siemens to add 800 more staff at Chennai centre
January 13th, 2011 - 6:06 pm ICT by IANSChennai, Jan 13 (IANS) Mobile telephony hardware, software and managed services player Nokia Siemens Networks Pvt Ltd plans to increase the headcount at its global network service centre (GNSC) located here, said a top company official Thursday.”Currently the headcount in our GNSC in Chennai is around 1,000 and this will be increased to 1,800 by the end of this year. This centre was set up in 2007 with an employee strength of 120,” Armando Almedia, head of Global Services, told reporters here.
Nokia Siemens has another GNSC in Noida near New Delhi where around 1,400 employees are working.
According to Almedia, the company is ready to meet the needs of 3G network management as and when the service is rolled out by its Indian clients.
He said Nokia Siemens will be setting up GNSCs in Brazil and Russia so as to have a centre located in the same time zone and language requirements of the markets.
“The proposed centre in Brazil will not result in any reduction in work in the Indian centres,” he added.
He said the facility here supports around 77 million mobile telephony subscribers and 87,000 base stations on customers’ networks globally.
On Thursday, Nokia Siemens inaugurated its new 90,000 sq ft facility, but officials declined to share any financial numbers.
