No more nominations, Rahul now wants elected office bearers for NSUI, IYC

New Delhi, Aug 18 (ANI): Nehru-Gandhi family scion and Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today held a meeting of his core team at the party headquarter in New Delhi to take stock of the situation about the seven key projects which he has undertaken after assuming the charge of the Indian Youth Congress and the NSUI a few months back.
It was decided to hold elections in the Youth Congress and the NSUI to bring about a new forceful and vibrant inner-party democracy. While Uttaranchal has been chosen as the state for holding the pilot project of NSUI elections, Punjab has been chosen for the Youth Congress.
Till now office bearers in these two frontal organizations of the Congress were nominated and not elected.
Rahul Gandhi is seen as the face of change of the Congress, said AICC General Secretary and senior leader Digvijay Singh, who was also present at the meeting.
He said that in all eight presentations were given by different heads of projects, and Rahul listened with utmost attention. Presentations were given on projects like, membership drive, organizational training, inner-party elections, Aam Aadmi ka Sipahi, etc.
Rahul held the meeting to know about the progress achieved so far in his endeavour.
According to the sources, it was also discussed at the meeting that the gap between the party and members should be amicably bridged so that there is an effective two-way communication flows. (ANI)
