Oct 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Car manufacturing giant Nissan announced on Thursday that it is recalling close to 2.1 million vehicles worldwide due to a faulty ignition. 76,000 of those vehicles were sold in North America and the rest were from Europe and Japan. This is one of the largest recalls in recent years Nissan has assured that the engineers can fix the problem in just 30 minutes. Reports suggest that the problem area is a relay in the ignition that has the potential to stall the engine of the car in rare circumstances. There are also reports of rough idling that have surfaced in some of the cars.
Nissan has asked the car users to wait for the official recall letter after which they can fix an appointment with the dealer to repair the problem. A spokesperson for Nissan in America told the media that the letter for the recall will go out in December which will give the company time to distribute the tools that are needed to replace the problematic relay. He also told the users that in case their cars are taking too long to start and has a rough idle, then they should get it serviced as soon as possible.
Nissan has so far received 13 complaints for the problem in the United States alone though there are no reports of accidents or injuries caused due to the faulty relay. Some of the experts said that the fault in the relay could have resulted in the engine stalling while someone was driving the vehicle. This could have resulted in a rather dangerous situation but the probability of the situation was quite less.
