Aug 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Nissan Leaf the zero emission car from the Japanese carmaker is making waves the days and new rumors surrounding the cute car is also hitting the web frequently. It is well known That Nissan will supply around 25,000 Nissan Leaf EVs to the USA by the end of the next year. A rumor was recently doing the rounds that owing to the heavy demand for the car model Nissan might limit the number to only 3,000 for USA. Nissan spokespersons brushed aside the rumor saying that the company is working hard to meet the target and it expects to wrap up the booking by the end of the present year for the much anticipated Leaf.
Nissan expects to deliver the majority of the cars to the buyers in the USA by 2011 without any major hiccups. The Leaf is the first fully electric car made by the Japanese carmaker. However it will have to compete with established hybrid models like the Toyota Prius as well as Chevrolet volt. The leaf is priced at $32780. The customers will be able to get the car in several US states including California, Arizona, Tennessee, Oregon by the end of 2010. In January 2011 the car will be sold in Hawaii and Texas.
The Leaf has got great early reviews from car experts but it will have a tough time in wooing the users of conventional fuel driven cars. With all due respect to the eco friendly cars, the mass adoption of electric cars is, at its best, slow. The pricing also remains a deterrent for electric cars in most of the cases.
