Niira Radia obtains stay on ‘defamatory’ book (Lead)
May 25th, 2011 - 3:01 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 25 (IANS) The Delhi High Court Wednesday accepted corporate lobbyist Niira Radia’s plea against the release of a book said to be based on her role in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
The book, “Close Encounters with Niira Radia”, has been written by lawyer R.K. Anand.
Justice V.K. Jain said: “The court is staying the release of the book… the matter is sub judice.”
Radia has approached the court saying she has been subjected to character-assassination in the book due to which her public image will be affected.
Published by Har Anand Publication, the book contains excerpts from the wire-tapped telephonic conversations of Radia with political leaders, industry captains and journalists.
The court also issued notice to Har Anand Publication, seeking their reply on the contents of the book. The book was to be released in June.
The matter will come up for hearing July 22.
