Rae Bareli, July 4 (ANI): A special court in Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh has fixed July 11 as the next date for hearing of the 1992 Babri mosque demolition case.

Earlier, deposition of a witness of the case Aslam took place on Friday and it will continue on next hearing.

Deposition of this third witness could not take place on the previous hearing on June 24th because of the lawyers’ strike of the District Court.

The deposition of two of the three witnesses is over.

Besides senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders L.K Advani, Dr. Murali Manohar Joshi and Vinay Katiyar, Bharatiya Janshakti Party leader Uma Bharati, Vishwa Hindu Parishad leaders Ashok Singhal, Acharya Giriraj Kishore and Vishnu Hari Dalmiya, and Sadhvi Ritambhara are the eight accused facing trial in the matter.

In September 2003, a Rae Bareli court had quashed charges against Advani while deciding to proceed against the other seven persons.

The demolition of the 16th century mosque in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992, triggered a nationwide communal frenzy. (ANI)
