New Delhi, May 22 (IANS) The airport at Bangalore will finally start operations from early Saturday morning after its launch was postponed four times, as the civil aviation ministry issued a formal notification. The ministry had asked Bengaluru International Airport Ltd (BIAL), the developers of the airport, to delay the launch by a day.
The project has already faced a delay of over 50 days, resulting in cost over-run and revenue loss of over Rs.30 billion for the developer.
The official notification was issued by the ministry Wednesday evening, an official statement said Thursday.
The ministry had earlier postponed the May 23 launch without citing reasons.
It was for the fourth time that the launch was postponed. The airport was first to be launched on March 28. It was then postponed to May 11, May 22 and now on May 23.
