New Delhi, March 4 (IANS) Swiss food giant Nestle India’s Tuesday reported profits of Rs.936.1 million ($23 million) during the quarter ending Dec 31, 2007 compared to Rs.624.6 million in the same period last year. During the period, the firm’s total income rose to Rs.9 billion from Rs.7.43 billion in the fourth quarter of 2006-07, while its total net sales were to the tune of Rs.8.9 billion as against Rs.7.3 billion last year.
“Whilst during the past three years we have delivered double digit profitable growth in 10 quarters, and in the last year over 20 percent growth in each quarter, we have at the same time improved very markedly our use of natural resources as well as reduced drastically waste and emissions over the past decade,” Martial Rolland, chairman and managing director of Nestle India said in a statement.
The company has also declared a dividend of Rs.2.50 a share for the financial year 2007.
