napnannyJuly 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) This year a number of products and medicines have been recalled and the latest to join the recall bandwagon is baby recliners. As many as 30000 Nap Nanny baby recliners are bring recalled by the company that manufactures it, Baby matters. The recall has been triggered by the accidental demise of a baby girl which took place in Michigan sometimes back. Even though the baby was harnessed in the right way in the recliner she somehow got trapped between the crib bumper and the product itself. In another similar instance an infant got injured but luckily survived.

Nap Nanny is only meant for using on floor, not in a crib. In all these instances the parents used the product in some form of enclosure. The Nap Nanny recliners that are going to be recalled were sold from a number of retailers. They were sold from the beginning of 2009 to July 2010. The first generation recliners without D rings are under this recall. The second generation Nap Nanny recliners are safer and the company is offering a special discount for the buyers of the first version recliner who want to exchange it for the new safer ones.

The company asks the parents who bought the second generation recliners to visit its site where an instructional video is loaded which shows how to use the recliners in the best way. The company website also says that only babies who are over 8 pounds should be allowed in the recliner. These babies have control over their torso and head which minimizes the chances of falling or getting injured.
