Nangal-Howrah train service to start Saturday
October 15th, 2010 - 2:23 pm ICT by IANSShimla, Oct 15 (IANS) The Indian Railways will start a superfast train between Howrah (Kolkata) and Nangal in Punjab from Oct 16, a railway official said here Friday.
“The first, inaugural train will depart from Nangal at 8 a.m. Saturday. It will be a weekly service,” Shimla station superintendent G.S. Rajput told IANS.
The train will leave Nangal 8 a.m. every Saturday, and depart from Howrah every Thursday at 7.40 a.m., he added. The service will be extended to Himachal Pradesh in the coming months.
“The train will benefit commuters of Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Kangra districts in Himachal. In the coming months, it will be extended till Amb (Una district), where the station is under construction,” he added.
The 15-coach train will pass through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal.
