NALCO signs agreement with mines ministry
March 16th, 2011 - 12:01 am ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, March 15 (IANS) State-run National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the union mines ministry for the financial year 2011-12, the company said.
NALCO’s acting chairman-cum managing director (CMD) B.L. Bagra signed the agreement with Mines Secretary Vijay Kumar in New Delhi, a company statement said.
In the MoU, NALCO has projected higher production of 63 lakh tonnes of bauxite and 21 lakh tonnes of alumina from its mines and refinery complex at Damanjodi in Koraput district during 2011-12.
Similarly, metal production from the company’s smelter has been projected at 4.6 lakh tonnes and power generation at 7518 million units from its 1200 MW captive power plant, both at Angul in the state.
The Bhubaneswar-headquartered NALCO is Asia’s largest integrated aluminium producer.
