NALCO hikes aluminium prices by Rs.3,000 per tonne
April 25th, 2011 - 5:25 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, April 25 (IANS) The state-run National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) has hiked the price of its products by Rs.3,000 per tonne in the domestic market in view of the increasing international prices of aluminium, a senior company official said Monday.
The prices of all aluminium products have been increased to keep the domestic price in line with the London Metal Exchange aluminium prices, the official told IANS.
The basic price of standard aluminium ingots and standard aluminium sow ingots would now be about Rs.148,200 per tonne, he said.
This is the second hike in aluminium prices by the company this month for the domestic market. Early this month, it had increased prices by Rs.5,000 per tonne.
The Bhubaneswar-headquartered NALCO is India’s third largest producer of aluminium.
The company, which sells aluminium in both domestic and international markets, recorded the highest-ever domestic metal sale of 340,752 tonnes in 2010-11, surpassing the previous highest of 289,032 tonnes in the previous fiscal.
