Myanmar military ruler inspects Tata Motors plant (With Image)
July 29th, 2010 - 8:30 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, July 29 (IANS) Myanmar’s military ruler General Than Shwe visited Jharkhand’s steel city of Jamshedpur Thursday and inspected the Tata Motors plant there.
According to sources, Than Shwe’s visit was related to a collaboration between Tata Motors and Myanmar Automobiles and Diesel Industries, a government of Myanmar undertaking, for setting up a plant at Magwe in Myanmar.
The plant is likely to become functional by the end of the current financial year.
Than Shwe arrived in Jamshedpur on a special flight around 11.45 a.m. and went directly to the Tata Motors plant.
Tata Motors officials remained tight-lipped about the visit.
According to sources, Than Shwe was accompanied by a delegation comprising Minister of National Planning and Economic Development U. Soe Thae.
