Washington, Jan 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The immediate initiative that the U.S government should take to improve the job scenario in the country received a huge impetus on Friday, as the Labor Department revealed the U.S. employment report that highlighted the fact that 85,000 jobs were lost in the country in the month of December. Moreover, like the previous month, the unemployment rate was steady at 10 percent. However, the unemployment rate remained the same owing to the fact that around 661,000 unemployed Americans were not included in the survey as they had not been hunting for a job.
While reacting to the revelations of the report, U.S. President Barack Obama stressed the need to accentuate the level of hiring by expanding new avenues. Moreover, the President also added that the $2.3 billion tax credits would soon be churning out an estimated 17,000 green jobs. At the same time, he urged the Congress to take into account around $5 billion to increase the tax credits for the those manufacturers who would be investing in clean energy technologies.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco has implied that the revelations of the December report points to the fact that creating new jobs and addressing the issue of unemployment should be the top priority of the leaders at this moment. Moreover, she also added that necessary steps have to be taken to pave the way for recovery of the economy.
Meanwhile, economists have expressed concern that once the economy shows signs of recovery, more jobless individuals would start looking for a job and this would escalate the unemployment rate despite the improvement of the economy.
