More foreign tourists this June than last year
July 8th, 2011 - 5:44 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 8 (IANS) Foreign tourist arrivals in June were 7.2 percent higher than in the same month last year, a tourism ministry statement said Friday.
The total number of foreign tourists who came to India last month was 3.96 lakh as compared to 3.70 lakh in June 2010, the statement said. In June 2009, 3.52 lakh foreign tourists had come to India.
The statement further stated that between January and June 29.19 lakh foreign tourists had visited the country, a growth of 10.9 percent over the corresponding period in 2010, when the number was recorded at 26.32 lakh.
