More fines on the horizon for Toyota?

New York, May 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) US authorities have said that they might fine Toyota more for the numerous safety lapses in their automobiles. They also added that they also want to see results from Toyota, in order to improve the numerous safety parameters.
Ray LaHood, who is the US Transportation Secretary, announced on Monday after a visit to the automaker’s headquarters said he was happy with all the measures that Toyota has taken in the recent months to improve its communication with the US regulators. However he said he was waiting to see if the new measures would be effective or not.
It ought to be mentioned that Toyota has recalled more than 8 million vehicles from all over the world for many problems, which ranged from stuck gas pedals to accelerators. The problems have not even spared some of its top selling models. And the majority of the recalls were done from the United States. The US government had also recently fined the automaker $16.4 million dollars, for delay in reporting to authorities about the faulty gas pedals, that has caused the loss of some lives as well.
However the President of Toyota Motor Corporation - Mr. Akio Toyoda said that his company was making a strong progress on all its commitments to strengthen the safety measures.
