New Delhi, Oct 4 (IANS) Leading online recruitment firm Monster India Tuesday launched a networking application, BeKnown, which allows Facebook users to establish a professional network on the world’s most popular social platform.
“We thought when we have so many users on Facebook, can we bring the power of Monster on Facebook itself so that we can provide a seamless jobsearch and professional networking opportunity to users without them logging elsewhere,” said Sanjay Modi, managing director, Monster.com (India, Middle East).
“We also saw lot of employers tapping into Facebook from a recruitment perspective. But it lacked any kind of constructive methodology,” Modi told IANS.
With BeKnown, users can seamlessly identify and connect with friends and professional contacts from multiple sources and grow their professional network, enhance their online professional identity and discover enriching career opportunities.
BeKnown is available for download at http://apps.facebook.com/beknown in 19 different languages, and is accessible by any Facebook user.
Facebook has more than 800 million users globally and over 35 million of these are from India.
“We conducted a research covering about 35,000 job seekers on Monster asking them how much time they spent on Facebook daily. About 70 percent of them said they spend 30-60 minutes daily,” said Modi.
About 62 percent also said they used social networking to connect professionally, he added.
The BeKnown application allows users to keep social activity with friends and family on Facebook separate from work-related activity with professional contacts. It also enables jobseekers to follow a particular company in which the person is interested.
“When you start following an employer, which you can choose to pick up, you will start becoming aware of the opportunities that these companies have to offer you on the BeKnown network. Also opportunities with the same company available on Monster will start becoming available to you on the BeKnown platform itself,” said Modi.
