Washington, Mar 17 (ANI): Miramax Films and producer Scott Rudin have snapped up the screen rights to Lush Life, the acclaimed new novel by Richard Price, who will write the script.

A police procedural with the hidden depths typical of Prices work, Lush Life begins as an investigation into the murder of a man on New Yorks Lower East Side, but spirals into a character study that reveals much about the city and the people involved in a mugging gone wrong, reports Variety.

Price, who recently won the Edgar Award for his script work on HBO series The Wire, has also written several other scripts, including adaptations of Clockers and Freedomland, and originals including Sea Of Love and Mad Dog And Glory.

Rudin has a long history with Price that began before he became a producer.

Rudin was the casting director on The Wanderers, Philip Kaufmans adaptation of Prices novel, when he was just 19 and, since becoming a producer, has engaged Prices scripting services on several occasions, most notably on Ransom and Shaft. (ANI)
