Mirage upgrade contract signed for $2.4 bn
July 29th, 2011 - 6:22 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 29 (IANS) India Friday signed a $2.4 billion contract with French defence firms Thales and Dassault Aviation for the upgrade of its 51 Mirage combat jets.
“Thales and Dassault Aviation today signed a contract for the upgrade of the Indian Air Force’s Mirage-2000 fleet,” a press release from Thales and Dassault Aviation here said Friday.
A company spokesperson here said it was a “commercial contract” between the firms and the Indian government.
The cabinet committee on security had approved the deal earlier this month.
