Milkmen back in New Zealand after two decades

Auckland, Oct 31 (IANS) Milkmen will be seen once again in New Zealand after fading away from the scene for the past two decades.

A new service launched by the Trusty Delivery Company will deliver milk and other goods to almost 1,200 Auckland customers, in a bid to compete with supermarkets, the New Zealand Herald reported Sunday.

Milk deliveries can also be ordered online. Graeme Brown, managing director of the company, said the idea of the traditional milkman would be welcomed by the people. The company also has a milk woman, he said.

“Home delivery has been forgotten about. I think customers are very pleased to see the milkman coming back to their doors,” he said.

A customer named Kate Meredith said she was impressed that the milkman came knocking at her door.

“I was really impressed with it. They give us a little cooler bag which we put out the night before. I was keen to have milk delivered the way it used to be.”
