Milkfed targets 200,000 boxes of sweets this Diwali

Chandigarh, Oct 28 (IANS) Punjab’s milk cooperative society Milkfed is all set to increase the sale of its sweets by 100 percent during this Diwali festival, an official said Thursday.

Milkfed is offering various sweets including kaju pinni, panjiri, milk cake, peda, doda burfi and soan papdi. Rates are fixed for all sweets - Rs.85 and Rs.160 for 400 gm and 800 gm, respectively. It is also making kaju burfi available for Rs.270 per 800 gm.

According to Milkfed’s regional sales manager S.K. Dudeja, so far they have already received the orders of 150,000 sweets boxes for Diwali.

“During the last Diwali, we had sold around one lakh boxes of sweets. This year we are hopeful of crossing the mark of two lakh boxes. Till now we have received orders of 150,000 boxes from different towns of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh,” Dudeja told IANS.

“Seeing a sweeping increase in the demand, we have outsourced the work to other sweet manufacturers. But we are ourselves providing them the raw material and other ingredients. Besides our officials are always there to ensure the quality of the product,” he said.

Dudeja said the shelf life of Milkfed’s sweets ranges from 15 days to two months.

“Our sweets are of utmost quality and that is the main reason why they are in huge demand,” he said.

Milkfed came into existence in Punjab in 1973 with an objective to provide technical inputs to the milk producers to enhance production and to provide a market for milk products.
