August 18th, 2010 - 4:46 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 18 (IANS) Mexico is working to expedite the visa process to attract more Indian tourists to the Latin American nation, Mexican Tourism Minister Gloria Guevara said.
“We are working to expedite the visa process in order to cap the potential tourist market in India. We are also talking to local tour operators in both the countries to provide some exclusive packages to Indian travellers,” Guevara said here late Tuesday.
She was member of the Mexican delegation led by Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa visiting India.
Guevara, who met Indian Tourism Minister Kumari Selja, said there was a huge opportunity in tourism sector for the countries to explore.
“The two countries should exchange best practices in tourism, hospitality and education sectors,” she added.
Guevara said about 14,000 tourists from India visited Mexico in 2009 while over 10,000 Mexicans came to India the year.
As part of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations with India this year, Mexico is focusing on promoting tie-ups between the two countries by exploring how to enhance the tourists flow on a reciprocal basis.
