New Delhi, July 16 (IANS) Delhi Metro chief E. Sreedharan has left for Kerela to attend ceremonies related to the death of his sister who passed away days before a major Metro accident killed six people here.
A Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson told IANS that Sreedharan’s eldest sister died in the first week of July, days before Sunday’s disaster when an elevated rail track under construction collapsed in south Delhi also injuring 15.

“He will attend the post death ceremonies and return to the capital July 21,” the spokesperson said, adding she was like a motherly figure to him.

Sunday’s accident was the worst in the Delhi Metro’s history and Sreedharan quit, owning full moral responsibility but was persuaded to stay on.
