London, United Kingdom, July 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Metro Bank, the new High School retail Bank that is one of its kind in Britain in the last 100 years, opened to welcome customers on Thursday. The bank has opened its business with hopes to retrieve the banking sector from its dilapidated condition caused by the global credit crisis. It promised to revolutionize the British banking experience by offering retail opening hours, simple range of products and unparalleled services reportedly that will suit the need of everyone. The bank will remain open from 8 am to 8 pm from Monday to Friday and will also remain open on Saturday and Sunday but for lesser hours.
The business plan of Metro banks has been set following the model that was put to use by its co-founder billionaire Vernon Hill when he founded America’s Commerce Bank back in 1973. The Commerce Bank had grown with time to become one of the major forces in the financial industry of United States. The Metro bank too hopes to create a new banking experience for the people of United Kingdom. It aims to open more than 200 branches all over greater London in the coming decade. It hopes to split its services between retail and commercial banking. The Metro bank hopes to provide credit card services to its customers as well.
However, on its first day the company came forward with an array of schemes that included free breakfasts for clients and biscuits for customers’ dogs to increase its publicity. However, as per reports, the services of the Metro Bank failed to make much impact on the industry commentators.
