Melody Hobson-What you need to know about moneyMay 30th, 2009 - 7:23 pm ICT by GD
How we wish at times we had someone to turn to in order to help us in dealings of money, the daily basics. Well, that is exactly what ABC aims to do. Tonight at 9, ABC brings to its audience, Chicago Financial whiz, Mellody Hobson (whose name is often mis-spelled as Melody), who will give valuable guidance in money matters. It is going to be a sort of one hour crash course in money matters with the financial adviser of “Good Morning America”.
The episode will feature a host of celebrities making appearances, beginning with the likes of Will Smith, The Jonas Brothers, Samuel L. Jackson, Seth Green, Christian Slater and so forth. The show will mainly deal with explaining credit cards, investments, retirement schemes, stocks and mortgages. What the show aims to achieve is to give out valuable information dipped in a bit of humor. The celebrity guests and the host will suggest a lot of tips that can be followed by the audience for achieving results. The Jonas Brothers will be teaching their fans, mostly teenage girls, the ways of the financial world. Will Smith will involve himself in a boardroom scene with finance executives. And the show will have Samuel L. Jackson as a best selling author of self-help books.
Mellody Hobson is the president of Ariel Investments, LLC, an investment firm in Chicago, managing over $3 billion in assets. She is the Chairwoman of Ariel Mutual Funds, and heads the board of trustees. She was elected the firm’s president in 2000. Hobson is also the spokesperson for the annual Ariel/Schwab Black Investor survey.
She is presently dating producer and director, George Lucas and has accompanied him to a number of award events, the most pronounced being, the Academy Awards in February 2007. The “Star Wars” director and Hobson have been dating for quite sometime now.
