June 9th, 2010 - 7:54 pm ICT by Pen Men At WorkMcDonald has begun its return and refund policy from today, which includes a refund of $3 when you return the Shrek glasses bought during the promotion of the latest Shrek movie Shrek Forever After.
These glasses are suspected to be tainted with cadmium, a heavy metal causing major health problems. Hence, McDonald has announced its recall and is buying back the glasses from the customers. The first food chain will buy them at $3 while it was purchased at only $2.
According to the business pundits, the customers can go into any of the McDonald restaurant and just fill in a refund slip to get their money back. But, you are required to bring the Shrek glass with you to surrender in return for the money.
McDonalds are trying to make amends. But, the question here is how the cadmium got on to the glasses? The fast food chain needs to find out the reason first.
Now, the restaurants promoting their products, need to be more careful while purchasing the articles.
According to McDonalds, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has confirmed that the glassware is not toxic and this step of recall has been taken only out of caution.
