MCD will provide 198,000 computers to school kids
November 18th, 2011 - 12:41 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 17 (IANS) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will provide 198,000 computers free of cost to students of class 4 in its schools, a civic agency official said Thursday.
“The corporation will provide 198,000 computers free of cost to students of class 4 in the current academic year. Each computer will cost Rs.2,000,” MCD’s Education Committee chairman Mahendra Nagpal said.
He said that MCD will start distributing the computers in next couple of months, adding it will cost the state exchequer a sum of Rs.30 crore.
Nagpal was speaking at a function “Let’s make efforts towards Safer Schools”, organised by Plan India and Society for All Round development (SARD).
