New Delhi, Oct 17 (IANS) Delhi’s corporators will now hold discussions in a swanky newly-constructed state-of-the-art meeting hall that was inaugurated by Lt. Governor Tejender Khanna Monday.

The meeting hall is touted to be at par with the facilities in parliament.

Housed in the civic centre in central Delhi, the 112 meter tall dome shaped meeting hall is considered to be highly advanced as compared to the previous meeting hall in Chandni Chowk’s Town Hall building.

“The MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) has initiated various steps for making administration and governance transparent, accountable, and moral. The electronic voting system in the new hall and various other technological advancements will add to our work efficiency,” said Mayor Rajni Abbi.

“Around 3,000 MCD staffers will occupy the civic centre, built on over 12 acres land. The centre is expected to get more than 20,000 footfalls a day after the meetings begin at the new meeting hall. The complex has eight escalators, a 1,000-seat auditorium, an art gallery and a restaurant,” said a civic agency official.
