New Delhi, Dec 23 (IANS) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Thursday removed around 350 unauthorized structures from various parts of Delhi.”The encroachments were built on public land on Gurdwara Road, Madangir and included extended patios, tin sheds etc.,” the MCD statement said.

Another encroachment removal drive in west Delhi resulted in roofs and illegal portions of 25 properties being demolished. The constructions were erected on MCD land in Raghubir Nagar.

Further, 18 properties were demolished and eight sealed in Shahdara area in east Delhi.

The MCD in recent weeks has put the focus on checking unauthorised constructions after a multi-storeyed building with two illegal floors collapsed Nov 15 in an east Delhi locality, killing as many as 70 migrant labourers from Bihar and West Bengal.

The incident also drew wide criticism of the civic body for its failure to check mushrooming illegal constructions in the national capital.
