New Delhi, Dec 16 (IANS) Cracking down on unauthorised constructions, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Thursday demolished eight properties in east Delhi and also sealed two properties in the area.”The MCD’s building department with the police help sealed two properties in Pandav Nagar and demolished eight properties in Farsh Bazar and Pandav Nagar police station areas,” a statement from the civic body said.

The MCD in recent weeks has put the focus on checking unauthorised constructions after a multi-storeyed building with two illegal floors collapsed Nov 15 in an east Delhi locality, killing as many as 70 migrant labourers from Bihar and West Bengal.

The incident also drew wide criticism of the civic body for its failure to check mushrooming of illegal constructions in the national capital.
