MCD asked to meet demands of street cleaners

New Delhi, July 8 (IANS) Stepping in to resolve the problems faced by street cleaners, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Thursday asked the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to release their June salaries by July 13 and fill up the vacant posts.
At a meeting to discuss the problems faced by the street cleaners, Dikshit instructed the MCD to give due consideration to their demands of regularisation and set up a welfare fund to take care of their future, officials said.

The chief minister also asked the cleaners to render their constructive contribution in maintaining cleanliness during the October 3-14 Commonwealth Games.
