Maruti car sales up 50 percent in December
January 1st, 2010 - 5:12 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Jan 1 (IANS) India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki Friday posted an increase of 50.6 percent in sales to 84,804 units in December this fiscal, compared to 56,293 vehicles in the same month last fiscal.
“This (84,804 units) includes 13,804 units of exports,” the company said in a statement.
For April-December, sales grew 31.6 percent to 730,943 units over the same period in last fiscal.
Maruti’s sales in the compact car (A2) segment comprising Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, Ritz and A-Star grew 41.8 percent over December 2008. The company sold 52,236 units in this segment as against 36,831 units last year.
Sale of models in its mid-sized (A3) segment comprising SX4 and D’Zire rose 20.2 percent to 7,843 cars in December. Exports were at 13,804 units in the month under review, up a whopping 223 percent over the previous corresponding period.
