star1Feb 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The car recalls by Maruti Suzuki is being heralded as a positive sign, as can be evident from the rise in share prices of the company. This confidence, which has been regained in the strength of the company only after the automaker recalled about 1 lakh of the A-Star model, something that turned out to be the largest number of recalls made in present times. This confidence comes as something of a surprise, considering that a recall always indicates that something is wrong with the models, a fact that may prove to be alarming to the customer goodwill of a company, particularly if it is of the stature of Maruti Suzuki.

However, the case seems to be the exact opposite. According to the industry analysts, the fact of the recall has faded into the background before the other, more important observation of the time that the company took to recall the model. That fact especially comes into view if one compares it with the recalls made by the other major carmakers in recent times, namely, those of Toyota and Honda.

Toyota took a very long time to recall its models, or even to admit the flaws in the models. In fact, it took the company quite a number of customer complaints to actually admit that there was some problem with the models. Maruti Suzuki, on the other hand, recalled the A-Star models of its own accord, and very soon after it discovered the problem. Customer complaints had not been a driving force in the recalls, according to experts. According to the authorities at Maruti Suzuki, the fault in the fuel pump was noticed during the quality checks that are regularly administered.
