Mumbai, March 17 (IANS) Indian equities markets slipped into the red Tuesday afternoon, with a key index ruling 1.17 percent lower than its previous close about 90 minutes before the closing bell.
The 30-scrip Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensitive index (Sensex), which opened at 8,942.01 points, was trading at 8,849.18 points - a fall of 111.7 points or 1.17 percent from its previous close.
Similarly, the S&P CNX Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) lost 1.11 percent from its last close to rule at 2,746.55 points.
The BSE midcap index was ruling 0.18 percent lower, while the BSE smallcap index was up 0.37 percent.
