Mumbai, June 9 (IANS) A key index of the Indian equities markets, which opened 47 points lower than its previous close Tuesday, soared back into the green to rule 343 points up about 30 minutes after noon.
Around 12.30 p.m., the benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Sensex, was ruling at 15,009.47 points, 343.55 points or 2.34 percent higher than Monday’s close. It opened at 14,618.98 points and soon plunged to a low of 14,526.69, but started recovering in the late morning session.
The Sensex had dropped 438 points Monday, the third biggest fall of the year, to end below the 15,000-mark.
The S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too gained ground, moving up 1.69 percent to rule at 4,504.8 points around the same time.
However, broader market indices were showing mixed signals, with the BSE midcap index ruling 1.18 percent higher and the BSE smallcap index trading 0.14 percent lower.
