Mango festival in Haryana’s Pinjore gardens
June 23rd, 2011 - 9:36 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, June 23 (IANS) The Mughal-era Yadvindra Gardens in Haryana’s Pinjore town will host a mango festival July 2-3 in which growers and enthusiasts from across the country will participate, it was announced Thursday.
About 1,000 different varieties of mangoes would be displayed in the festival this year, Haryana’s Chief Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism Ram Kishan Fauji said here.
He said that the mango festival is aimed at promoting the popular fruit and also to disseminate latest information to farmers about how to increase the production of mangoes.
“They will be informed about the new varieties in the market so that they can produce different varieties with their limited resources which could then be marketed in India or abroad,” Fauji said.
The mango festival at Pinjore, 20 km from Chandigarh, is being organized jointly by Haryana’s tourism and horticulture departments.
