Mahindra, Eurocopter ink product development deal
July 26th, 2011 - 9:45 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 26 (IANS) Indian conglomerate Mahindra Group’s subsidiaries Mahindra Aerospace and Mahindra Satyam Tuesday entered into an agreement with international helicopter manufacturer Eurocopter for the joint design and development of niche aviation sector products.
“We are already creating a niche for ourselves in the fixed-wing aircraft and
aerostructures manufacturing space. We see this MoU (memorandum of understanding) as a significant step forward for both of us,” Mahindra Aerospace chairman Hemant Luthra said.
The partnership will be focused on manufacturing of sub-assemblies and customisation of civil helicopters.
“Details of the scope and structure of the partnership will be decided in the coming months,” the company said in a statement.
Mahindra Aerospace, formed in 2008, was the Mahindra Group’s first foray into the global aerospace manufacturing and utility aircraft industry.
The company recently concluded the acquisitions of Aerostaff Australia and GippsAero (formally Gippsland Aeronautics), both based in Australia.
