Bhopal, May 31 (IANS) The Madhya Pradesh government claimed Saturday that it has taken several steps to address the grievances of the power consumers in the state and redressed 1,688 complaints they lodged with the electricity authorities. The government set up a special forum as per the provisions of the Electricity Act-2003 in Bhopal four years ago to find solutions to consumers’ problems.
The forum has so far disposed 1,688 out of 1,732 complaints it received, the government said in a statement.
As many as 137 complaints were disposed in 2004-05 followed by 817 in 2005-06, 483 in 2006-07 and 251 in 2007-08.
If a consumer has a problem, he or she can complain to the power company. If it is not redressed by the company, the consumer can approach the forum.
Apart from Bhopal, the forum holds sittings in Gwalior.
