beer_1612546cCopenhagen, Apr 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The trend of workers declaring strike happening across Europe took a bizarre turn in Denmark where Carlsberg brewery employees went on strike to protest against the new regulations that restrict their beer drinking to lunchtime. Hundreds of workers at the company have joined the strike after they were told that they will no longer be able to drink limitless amount of beer all over the day. 800 workers have walked off in protest and the truck drivers have also joined this strike.

The funny thing is that the truck drivers are not covered by the new ban but they are also entitled to the benefit of drinking beers for free. The company imposed the new regulations on the workers on the first day of April. However, this is not at all an April fool joke. Despite the defiance of the workers, the company is not in the mood to withdraw the rule. On the contrary, a company spokesperson said that the idea to come up with limited beer drinking for the employees is not new. The company has rules that the workers should not be drunk when they work. That is why the Carlsberg delivery trucks have ignition locks.

Apart from the 800 workers who are on strike, 250 other workers have left their jobs. The beer transport in the regions near Copenhagen will be affected owing to the strike. It remains to be seen how long the strike continues for. The company has not yet decided any step regarding the striking workers but it will have to find a solution to keep the regular production in order.
