L&T bags projects worth Rs.1,103 crore

Mumbai, Jan 3 (IANS) Engineering and construction major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Monday said its railway business unit had bagged orders worth Rs.1,103 crore from power plant developers to construct ‘merry-go-round systems’ and dedicated railway lines.”The orders will be executed by the Rail Infra Division, a part of L&T’s railway business unit, Faridabad, on a design key and lump sum turn-key basis,” the company said in a regulatory filing.

“The scope of the projects encompasses construction and commissioning of integrated railway facilities, execution of activities like earth work in embankment, bridges including rail and road flyovers, track laying, railway signalling and overhear electrification,” it added.

The unit bagged a Rs.365 crore order from Maithon Power Ltd, a joint venture of Tata Power and Damodar Valley Corp, for the construction of a 21 km rail link to their power plant at Maithon in Jharkhand.

Nabha Power Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of L&T, has placed an order worth Rs.270 crore to build a 13 km dedicated double track electrified rail link to its power plant at Rajpura in Punjab.

The subsidiary bagged orders worth Rs.151 crore and Rs.317 crore from BALCO and Sterlite Energy Ltd to strengthen their existing rail facilities in Chattisgarh and Orissa respectively.

At the Bombay Stock Exchange, the shares of the company were 0.45 percent up, to trade at Rs.1,988.05.
