Little fog, but train schedules disrupted
January 30th, 2010 - 4:20 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 30 (IANS) The fog may have been shallow Saturday morning but train schedules were nevertheless affected, with numerous delays and cancellations, a Northern Railway spokesperson said.
“There were 18 trains which were delayed because of fog today. Some of them, like the Toofan Express and the Mahananda Express, were delayed by as much as 14 and 18 hours respectively,” the spokesperson told IANS.
In addition to this, eight trains were rescheduled and 24 were cancelled.
Among the trains cancelled were the Garhwal Express, the Licchavi Express and the Amritsar-Jaunpur Express.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), there was shallow fog early in the morning and visibility improved considerably to 500 metres by 7.30 a.m.
