Liam Gallagher’s shop ‘Pretty Green’ looted in the London riots

London, Aug 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The riots in UK is taking its toll on businesses in the country. Looters have taken advantage of the chaos by breaking into and stealing from several shops in the country. On Tuesday night, several shops were looted and vandalized.

In Manchester, number of shops including the one belonging to Liam Gallagher was looted on Tuesday night. Pretty Green was opened last December in Manchester but on Tuesday, eyewitnesses said looters ransacked the shop and walked away with several valuables.

Witnesses reported seeing masked young men walking away with their loots from the store. Some of the thieves are said to be as little as 10 years. The police have arrested about 47 people. Pretty Green was not the only target of the looters.

Foot Asylum, Bang and Olufsen store and Miss Selfridge were also targeted. About 16,000 police officers have been deployed to the various streets in UK. Officers from Northumbria, Staffordshire and North Wales moved in to support the Greater Manchester Police.

Prime Minister David Cameron has called for calm. He did cut short his holidays to Italy to reconvene the country’s parliament this week. The scale of the riot makes it the worst in the history of the United Kingdom.
