Larsen and Toubro net up 3.3 percent
May 28th, 2009 - 4:41 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, May 28 (IANS) Engineering and construction major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Thursday reported a 3.3 percent rise in its net profit for the quarter ended March 31.
The company said in a regulatory statement that its net profit for the January-March quarter stood at Rs.998 crore, up from Rs.967 crore in the like period of the previous year.
Total income of the company during the period rose to Rs.10,605.16 crore from Rs.8,555.59 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2007-08.
“Despite the slowdown witnessed in the Indian capital goods and infrastructure sectors during the later part of the year, the company was able to bag fresh orders totalling Rs.516.21 crore, reflecting a growth (rate) of 23 percent over the previous period,” L&T said in the statement.
The company’s consolidated net profit for 2008-09 stood at Rs.3,789.46 crore, up 62.96 percent from Rs.2,325.36 crore recorded the year before.
