Mumbai, Aug 12 (IANS) A global consortium led by Indian engineering and construction major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has secured an engineering procurement construction (EPC) order worth Rs.38.16 billion from various customers in the metal industry. L&T in consortium with Outotec GmbH of Germany, a global leader in mineral processing and metallurgical technologies, and Paul Wurth Italia SpA of Italy, an arm of the Luxembourg-based engineering giant Pual Wurth SA, has bagged EPC orders worth Rs.25.45 billion from Tata Steel for a pellet plant and blast furnace at its Jamshedpur steel plant, a statement by the Indian company said here Tuesday.
L&T’s portion is valued at Rs.15.78 billion, the statement said.
The L&T-Outotec consortium has also bagged a Rs.7.53 billion order on EPC basis for a sinter plant, scheduled for commissioning in 30 months for SAIL-RSP expansion. L&T’s portion is valued at Rs.5.88 billion, the statement said.
L&T has also bagged a repeat order from Hindustan Zinc for a leaching, purification and zinc electrolysis plant on EPC basis, valued at Rs.5.18 billion, scheduled for commissioning in 17 months.
The slew of projects in the metallurgical space has positioned L&T as a significant player in the Indian ferrous and non-ferrous industry, the statement said.
