Kolkata’s Starlite Infotech ties up with Spanish firm
October 29th, 2009 - 9:40 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Kolkata, Oct 29 (IANS) City-based information technology firm Starlite Infotech Thursday inked an alliance with Spanish open-source solutions provider Openbravo for offering enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
“While big business houses are well served by IT companies with various business solutions, the SME market is under-served in all emerging markets including India,” Openbravo chief executive Manel Sarasa told a media conference here.
“There is a lot of potential in this sector in this country,” Sarasa said, adding that his company has similar partnerships with 12 other Indian firms.
As per the deal, Starlite will get technological assistance from the Spanish firm.
“We will be front-ending the plans. Openbravo will not have any equity participation in our company,” said the three-month-old Indian firm’s chief technology officer G.P. Samanta.
Starlite’s general manager Raju Paul said his company was looking at a turnover of Rs.250 crore-Rs.300 crore by March 2011.
The company’s service periphery will include IT infrastructure management, application development (like payroll and hospital management solutions), testing and quality assurance services, Paul added.
Starlite’s target clients will be SME companies with turnover of Rs.10 crore to Rs.100 crore.
According to Sarasa, the global ERP market for SMEs currently stands at $30 billion and is growing 25 percent annually.
