Kentucky to fund a $51 million extension of Blankenbaker Parkway
March 25th, 2010 - 3:05 am ICT by BNO NewsLOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY (BNO NEWS) – Kentucky will fund, through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the construction of the Blankenbaker Parkway extension, a $51 million project, Governor Steve Beshear announced on Wednesday.
The expansion project will extend the parkway by six-tenths of a mile creating a route that will provide direct access to Bluegrass Commerce Park. The new section of roadway will consist in four lanes with grass median and will extend from Chenoweth Run Road to Taylorsville Road. Sound barriers, sidewalks and traffic lights will be installed too.
The project was awarded to Flynn Brothers Contracting Inc., of Louisville.
“In addition to the jobs and payroll this project will generate, the extension of Blankenbaker Parkway will provide an important access route to the industry at Bluegrass Commerce Park,” Governor Beshear said.
